I believe both of these things are extremely significant to our Christian religion and many people would not be Christians if it weren't for the resurrection. The resurrection is a symbol to Christians that Jesus is not dead. That Jesus overcame death, but couldn't Jesus of very well overcame death in the spirit, and not in physical form and still of been the messiah and final atonement.
