What is Improvisation, Improv, or Impro?
Improvisation is getting on stage and performing without preparation.
You simply make your performance up as you go. This sounds very easy to do because this is what we do in every day life--we improvise as wego along. However, we need to bear in mind that on stage improvisation is different in the sense that we go on stage to entertain the audience.

Improvisers don't use jokes for laughter, they improvise
honestly and with commitment to the funny characters and situations they are portraying and always remain straight-faced. It is the intelligent connection to this demonstration of "serious reality" that truly makes the characterizations so funny. Conversely, the stand-up comedian has control over every line, and his or her behavior. S/he has memorized every line spoken and knows precisely how and when to deliver a punch line.
