The extremist parties played upon the awful conditions that the German people were living in, as they did with their feelings of revenge and humiliation, by promising food, jobs and freedom. It was these policies that saw the Nazi party rise to the dominant party in the Weimar Republic in January, 1933 and then become a dictatorship in March of the same year.
