As mentioned above Europe was now entering a new era in which no central authority
controlled the lives of the entire continent. It was an era in which a man like Martin
Luther could flourish because the people wanted to be heard and represented. Finally it
was a beginning of a new period, a difficult one, for the Roman Catholic Church that had
to heal over its many wounds sustained in the Reformation.
