even though it tasted horrible he still ate it. He tried to tell Willie to go away at first because he didn't know the thing and he wasn't planning to get close to it if he didn't know what it was. Then they grew to help each other, so Mark made friends with Willie. Finding the blue light was a smart thing to do, they only way in is most likely the only way out.
