Both the novel and the movie The Silence of the Lambs follow the same basic plot, and start and end the same way. The theme of both works is the same, and the novel contains all characters that were in the movie. There are, however, many, many differences in the plot and character development.

special effects, scenery, or costumes. Such trivial items would have detracted from the story line, so it is fortunate the director neglected to include those in his film.
In conclusion, the story of The Silence of the Lambs is thoroughly enjoyable, both to read and to watch. The novel is superior to the film because the film had to cut out many scenes, characters, and details, but the movie is nevertheless exciting and superbly acted.
