From the beginning of the film on, the production crew was unable to capture the message and realization of humanity that is apparent in the novel. Correct characterizations, accurate plot portrayal and a proper balance of character importance would have greatly benefited the success of the movie. Golding's effort put forth in The Lord of the Flies dramatically exceeds the effort barely noticeable in the screen adaptation.
