…showed last 75 words of 1251 total…an effort to have the audience leave the theater subdued--without riot's potential. The movie is worth the somewhat concentrated effort to follow sub-titles and occasional subtle acting. The period background music for effect provides pleasant ambiance and entertainment. But be prepared to reserve a copy in advance at the library--after 75 years this film is continually being viewed for it's controversial approach to film making, depiction of the Civil War, and insight into lingering segregation issues.
