that Chillingworth's, it changed herself for the better compared to Chillingworth's sin changing him for the worse, and it effected the people around her in a more positive way than Chillingworth's sin did. Hester says it best herself when she says, "He Betrayed me! He has done me worse wrong than I did him (page 172)." Doing more wrong directly translates into committing a worse sin. Chillingworth's sin was obviously worse than the sin of Hester.
