In 1832 Manet
was born and the art world was never to be the same again.
He was considered a rebel for much of his career, yet his
genius can scarcely be ignored. Even as a young art student
under the tutelage of Couture, Manet was at odds with the
traditional way of learning and doing things. His art teacher is
quoted as saying that Manet should set up a school of his
own (Adler 18). Manet

of followers that carried on in his Impressionism.
