Through proper representation, Los Angeles can be portrayed fairly; perhaps instead of as the underbelly of the world, as the preteen adolescent who is constantly growing, changing, and improving upon itself. Robert Kaplan does a good job of objectively presenting Los Angeles so that the reader can judge for himself.
