In analyzing the story "White Tigers," by Maxine Hong Kinston I found many occurrences to be closely paralleled to my beliefs of Confucianism. For example, when the woman reflects of her childhood she remembers when she dreamt of being a woman warrior. Throughout her training as a warrior she is enlightened and treats the animals as equals. The respect for animals soon led to the actualization that all creatures should be treated with equal respect.

to return the stolen money. I analyzed this occurrence to be correlated to the traditional belief of Li. Within the belief of Li it is believed that what is the proper decision will be carried out. The woman felt the action of stealing was necessary because she felt as if the people were being taken advantage of. I interpreted this and have come to an understanding of why she felt justice by stealing was necessary.
