ate. Although Winston is not successful in bringing down the Party, it shows us just how terrible this world really is. Winston tries to do all the things that we take for granted and is crushed. This is the most effective and eye opening ideas in the book. It gives us a new respect for our individual rights and freedoms and shows the true importance of thought; something that one should never be deprived of.
