Introduction

Finally, these results showed that presenting pictures alone enhanced the total number of items recalled. Based on this result it may be postulated that the picture bizarreness effect is indeed a generation effect. Pictures without the name had to be given their own name by the subject. This self-generated naming produced better memory than for items that were simply read. Perhaps this is the most significant finding and conclusion to be taken from this experiment.
