Rural communities of the 19th century went through somewhat of a vampire hunt, with five vampire cases involving exhumations altogether, dating back to 1796. Brown was the last suspected vampire ever exhumed in the state in 1882. This obscure period in Rhode Island's history is an interesting, yet rarely mentioned subject, and I had fun learning about it.
