One way we are shown this is how he learns to use chopsticks. And practically moments before leaving he teaches his class something very traditionally American--baseball. Even though he saw horrible things, almost broke down and lost faith in government, Adrian leaves Vietnam a stronger more fulfilled person. E. McGill
