The Episcopal Church came into existence as an independent denomination after the American Revolution. Today it has between two and three million members in the United States, Mexico, and Central America, all of which are under jurisdiction of the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, Edmond Browning.

marry if they choose to do so. I believe the biggest difference between our churches is that we do not follow the pope. The Roman Catholic Church is a monarchy with the pope in the head the church. However we have elected representatives who met up once a year to discuss topics for the betterment of our church. I like to think of ourselves as a congress. We are a democracy instead of a monarchy.
