Pelts were plentiful in America and many saw the opportunity in this fact. Permanent outposts were erected and trade with the Indians was established. Europeans and Indians formed a symbiotic relationship as metal goods were traded for the o-so valuable skins. This was the start of a great colonization that would eventually become the United States.
