historical figures Stalin, Trotsky, Marx, and the Russian population are directly portrayed as the animal characters of Napoleon, Snowball, Old Major, and Benjamin. The novel is, as was previously stated, a comparison to actual historical fact. When George Orwell wrote the novel Animal Farm, he wrote it as a satire. He chose animals to portray the figures in the novel to show how people can sometimes become a little animalistic when involved in a revolution.
